Film Friday #21 – The ABC challenge (part 2)

Welcome to Film Friday everyone!

This year, my fiancée and I are taking on the ABC challenge… where you watch a film for every letter of the alphabet! Just as luck has it, we’ve BOTH chosen films so we have 52 films… so one a week! I’ll give you a update on how we’re getting along (with the hopes that we get through 4 letters a month).

At the time of writing this, we’ve currently watched our first 25 films and I thought I’d share the next few here (if you wanna read our A-C films, check out this post)!

Rach’s choice: Drag Me To Hell

I saw the start of this twice (once I went to bed cause being a teacher is tiring, early morning work and Rach works shifts). This was gruesome at times, but I was all for it. Why do these people insist of like doing things that invoke the evil spirits? When will they ever learn? Perfect for horror fans!

My choice: Dracula

I asked Rach to choose me a Dracula film, and she chose me this one, ha! Watching this, I thought it was absolutely bonkers! Dracula has sister wives. And he’s camp af. I think he needs help.

Rach’s choice: Empire of the Sun

This was LONG. Rach’s pick for our ABC challenge. Poor Batman. I just wanted to give him a hug. As a big fan of a war movie (usually WW2), it was good to watch something else for a change. I did enjoy this, but my god, is it long and depressing!

My choice: Ex Machina

This started as a lol because I called it “ex machine-a” until I knew it was actually just “ex mackina” (phonetically at least). I really bloody enjoyed this. What a clever little film and a clever, manipulative robot. I wouldn’t like to come across her in the real world… thoroughly fascinated by this film!

Rach’s choice: Full Metal Jacket

Continuing on the “Steph loves a war film, show her war films that she’s never seen”, we watched Full Metal Jacket. This was intense. And not what I expected at all. It was way way more brutal than I expected! Did enjoy this though. Gave me Jarhead vibes.

My choice: Fight Club

FINALLY got to see this at the ripe age of 34… and it was kind of not what I expected. Thoroughly enjoyed it though. Wild wild ride. Love me some Brad Pitt! The fighting made me uncomfortable and I was shooketh at the end!

Have you seen any of these?
Have you got a favourite D, E or F film?
Are you a big film buff?

Let me know in the comments your thoughts!
