FREEBIE: Y6 REASONING WEEKLY TESTS

Hello!

I haven’t been around here for a while… so it’s nice to be back for a post!

I posted this tweet a while ago and honestly… the world went a bit mad! Here’s me thinking I’m just making a resource for my class, but it seems it’s going to be helpful for a WHOLE load of you…

My logic behind these tests is a weekly test/practice of some of the skills needed for the reasoning tests. This past year I really hammered the arithmetic side of SATs and I was astounded when my head rang me to say we have 93% EXS for Maths… LARGELY down to the incredible arithmetic scores we achieved. And like anything, there’s nothing but practice practice practice to get that going.

Using what I’d learned there, it makes sense to keep powering on with the arithmetic but to add some reasoning into the mix.

IMPORTANT: I am not endorsing a one lesson a week reasoning lesson. Reasoning needs to be a common thread in all of your Maths lessons. All I’m saying here is this gives children a chance to practice some of those much needed reasoning skills.

So what do you get?

Included in your download there’s 30 weekly reasoning practice tests/worksheets/whatever you want to call them AND the answers. They are colour coded based on the past paper they’re based on.

If this sounds like your kind of jam or a resource you’d be interested in, then please feel free to click the download buttons below (there’s a PPT so they’re editable and a PDF if you just want to use them as they are).

If you like this resource, you might want to check out my Teaching Resources page – there’s a whole load of stuff on there that will be helpful if you’re looking up plug gaps (not just in Maths, but SPAG and Writing too!)

As always, I’d love to know if this is any use to you! If you have any questions about them, that I’ve not answered here, you can leave me a comment, you can get in touch via the Contact tab at the top or you can tweet/DM me (if you follow me on social media!).

Please don’t put this on any websites claiming them as your own – a little credit (either of my blog, my twitter @eenalol or my Instagram @thisgeordieteaches) goes a long long way! A few people claimed my resources as their own in the past and it makes me a bit upset. I don’t charge for these; I’m not making any money from them; I’m sharing because there seemed to be a RESOUNDING desire for them to be shared. If you do download and talk about them on your social media (which I really do appreciate), please please just give credit (don’t go selling them on TES for a fiver… yes, it has happened before). Please spread the love and share this as far and as wide as you wish!
