Air

I thoroughly enjoyed this. We’d seen the trailer a few times and I was curious about it – but I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I really enjoyed learning about how Nike went from struggling to thriving… but I think I wanted to see more of Michael Jordan (you literally get like 3 shots of the actor who played a young Jordan).
Renfield

I think I’ve decided that Nicolas cage does my head in slightly? This made me lol and jump. Thought it was jam packed with action and vampire shit, which I was totally here for. Having just recently seen the Dracula film it refers to, I was like ‘here, aye, love that for me’. I did enjoy this though!
Assassin Club

I fucking love an assassin film… and parts of this I was totally here for, but it just fell a bit flat? Like it could’ve gone in so many other directions and I would’ve been here for it… that lass did my head in and I really wanted her to just go away. I did like the lead fella though and seeing how all the different assassins worked.

I’ve actually seen Air as well and similarly liked it more than I expected to (and I already thought the trailer was charming) but I think the choice not to show MJ was an inspired directorial choice – I feel like his presence would have been almost distracting given his larger than life-ness and the film’s focus was more the how than the who. That said, Viola D was a standout performance wise for me as well (it was good to see more of the mother as the driver behind certain decisions imo).
