Mini review Monday: graphic novels aplenty!

Good morning everyone!

I am here with some more graphic novels that I’ve read in the past few months – these reviews are WELL LATE (sorry about that!). My kids (and my partner and I) are still totally loving graphic novels, and I’m more than happy to get some more, read some more and share with them… because then we all win ha!

***

Another Kind – Cait May and Trevor Bream

This was brilliant! A gorgeous cast of “irregularities” trying to keep each other safe. I loved the chat about family and being who you are. The friendship between the main characters brought me so much joy. This is also GORGEOUSLY illustrated – the pages are just delicious. The antagonist in this is devilishly good. Just brilliant! I will tell you, my kids are THOROUGHLY loving this too!

City of Dragons: The Awakening Storm – Jaimal Yogis and Vivian Truong

Well, this was loads of fun! Dragons, friends, broke treaties and some proper good baddies! Grace, a mysterious dragon and someone’s plot to steal it… just brilliant! Love a story about dragons and this one doesn’t disappoint! Gorgeously told and illustrated! I can’t wait for the next one now!! This has gone down a storm with my kids and I am constantly being asked if I’ve got my hands on the second one yet, ha!

Wynd – James Tynion and Michael Dialynas

This is good fun – a world where magic is feared and anyone with magical blood has been killed, Wynd has been looked after… but now he’s in danger. Great friendships, great world of story and some really interesting characters! This is another I am constantly asked about… I really need to get my hands on book 2.

The Silver Six by AJ Lieberman and Darren Rawlings

This was great! Loads of science; loads of great messages about looking after the world and loads of talk about working together. I really enjoyed this! This has just recently been added to my class library and it is slowly picking up a bit of speed because my graphic novel cult followers have started to pick it up! Will feed back on how it goes down, ha.

And that’s it for today! I’ve had a productive graphic novel reading year so far, so I’m sure I’ll be back with some more graphic novel mini reviews in the next week or so! I have loads of reviews to catch up on! I would love some recommendations though…

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you have any recommendations for graphic novels for me to buy that would work for my Y6s, I’d love to hear them!
