Listified: an absolute CORKER of a book!

Enter the listiverse and get ready to see the world in a whole new way. Britannica’s Listified! takes the best and most amazing parts of the universe – erupting volcanoes, medieval machines, jumping spiders, exploding stars and everything in between – and organises them into quirky lists for curious kids and their friends and family to enjoy.
Brought to life by Andres Lozano’s imaginative and hilarious artworks, each list presents subjects from new and unexpected angles. Ever wondered which 10 dinosaurs were the largest, and what they weighed… in cats? Or how much of your DNA you share with other animals… and bananas? Let Britannica’s Listified! take you on a journey with Britannica’s 300 lists that will blow your mind about everything from the human body, to prehistoric creatures, planet Earth, outer space and the mysteries beyond.
Honestly, if you’re anything like me and you love to KNOW stuff, this is absolutely the book for you OR a knowledge loving kid in your life!
Listified is one of those incredible books that is just so jam packed with information, but it LOOKS GOOD too. The bright, bold illustrations throughout by Andres Lozano just bring so much life and joy to the page! There is so much in here to learn about. Just look at the massive array of things this book covers:
- Space
- Nature
- Dinosaur Times
- Animals
- The Body
- Being Human
- Inventions
- Game Changers
My favourite chapter, or collection of lists in the book, is ‘Being Human’ – there’s something about the human world that fascinates me! Like did you know…
the Amazon rainforest is home to more than 300 indigenous cultures with their own languages?
or
in Germany at the start of WW1, there was a shortage of metal, so people in different towns were granted permission to print ’emergency money’ on materials such as playing cards, silk, linen or pieces of wood?
Cause I certainly didn’t!
There is so so much in this that you could easily KEEP learning things for months on end!
I have shared this with the children in my class and it is incredible to see WHAT they’ve learned and the questions they have, but also what they’re interested in learning about! I know that the Space and the Game Changers chapters in particular have been extremely popular with my kids (cause who doesn’t want to learn about Space!). I particularly love in the ‘Game Changers’ section that it celebrates people throughout time who made moves and people who continue to make moves. We talked a lot this year about Rosa Parks and when they saw her in the book, they were like “MISS IT’S ROSA PARKS” (which for me was a lovely moment!).
If you can’t tell, I adore this book! I think classrooms, homes and libraries up and down the land will be forever enriched with this book!!
A massive thanks to Britannica Books for sending me this book – we are LOVING it in my classroom and I have already learned so much!
