ThursTAG: Fireworks book tag

HAPPY BONFIRE NIGHT! Not that we’re all going anywhere today ha!

Now, normally, I have to apologise at the beginning of a ThursTAG for stealing the post from someone… however today I am stealing from myself ha! I started writing next week’s post and then remembered today was Bonfire Night and traipsed through my past posts and found these prompts (if you’d like to see past me’s answers, you can check them out here)

I’m going to only use books I’ve read in 2020 here, to try to give you different books to what I posted the last time!

***

SCREAMERS:
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU WANT TO SCREAM! (IN A GOOD OR BAD WAY)

Lu by Jason Reynolds. The only reason this made me scream was because I am absolutely gutted this series is over. I loved these kids so much. And I will miss Coach so so much.

BOMBERS:
A BOOK YOU READ BEFORE IT EXPLODED IN THE BOOK COMMUNITY

The Castle of Tangled Magic by Sophie Anderson. I was very very lucky to get an early read of this during lockdown and I am so glad that people are FINALLY able to read this because it is incredible. Sophie is such an incredible storyteller that more people need to read and love her books. I’m so glad that I see so much love for her books on my timeline!

BANGERS:
A BANNED BOOK YOU READ

I didn’t think I’d read a banned book this year, but after some googling, it seems that Drama by Raina Telgemeier has been banned in Texas a few times.

PEONY:
A BOOK/AUTHOR YOU THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ

LOL. How am I meant to choose one? Okay, I’ll choose one book and one author… You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson is my book of choice; Aisha Bushby is my author of choice.

CROSSETTE:
A BOOK/SERIES WITH A COMPLICATED PLOT

Of my 2020 books, I can’t think of one that’s too complicated…

DIADEM:
A BOOK/SERIES WITH AMAZING CENTRAL CHARACTERS

Oh lord, now this I’m going to find the hardest because I am a character driven reader – like you give me a great set of characters, I can forgive you having a slightly boring plot (but definitely not the other way around). So, I’m going with a few:

  • Lu by Jason Reynolds (and while you’re at it, read the rest of the series)
  • Every Little Piece of My Heart by Non Pratt
  • Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman
  • Moonchild: Voyage of the Lost and Found by Aisha Bushby
  • Hold Back the Tide by Melinda Salisbury
  • Dragon Mountain by Katie and Kevin Tsang

I’ll stop now!

MATCHES:
LIGHT YOUR OWN FIREWORKS BY TAGGING FIVE PEOPLE

I’m not going to do that cause you know me… I’m a right rebel and all that!

***

Et voila! That’s the end of that! I hope everyone is safe and well!

What did you think of my answers?
Are you a fireworks fan?
Can you recommend me some books based on my answers?

Speak to you all soon!

Fun tag! I really enjoyed You Should See Me in a Crown, and everyone should read it! Another good book that is similar that I’ve read and enjoyed was The Falling in Love Montage! 🥰
