The Bank Holiday Book Tag

Hello everyone!

Happy bank holiday Monday! What plans do you all have today? I think I’m going to go for a run and then I need to pop to the shops and get a few bits and bobs… but apart from that I think the day needs to be dedicated to doing VERY LITTLE.

This is a tag I’ve been doing for the past few years, and when I remembered today was a bank holiday I thought OOH I CAN DO THAT TAG THAT CORA CAME UP WITH! So here we are! You can find Cora’s original post here: Cora’s original post.

So what is a typical bank holiday like?

Have a lie in. Which book could you lounge in bed with all morning?

Oooh! I think I’d love to reread My Life as a Cat by Carlie Sorosiak. Give me a morning in bed with this book again. It’s just so gorgeously lush.

Oh my goodness, it’s actually sunny outside! A book that makes you feel optimistic.

Lol, sunshine… in the North East. A book that makes me feel optimistic? Destination Anywhere by Sara Barnard. That book is so full of love and following your heart. I can’t wait for you all to read it!

Spend some time outdoors. A book that reminds you of nature.

It’s funny because this prompt ALWAYS makes me think of trees and forests, rather than seas and bodies of water. I always think green, rather than blue. A nature book? Anything that Jess Butterworth has written because they are wonderful.

Make some punch. A book that you find difficult to classify into one genre.

I always struggle with this question. I don’t know if it’s just because I don’t really categorise books in my head… so I’m going to pass ha!

Pass some food around. A book you want to share with everyone.

Oh dear god, so so many. Some that everyone needs to read? Strangeworlds Travel Agency, Harley in the Sky, The Castle of Tangled Magic, The Scam List, After the War, The Midnight Guardians, Dragon Mountain and My Life as a Cat. Yes, all of them.

Light the BBQ. A book that took a while to get going.

Now I don’t mean this in a BAD way, but Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman took me a while to get into… but once I was there I WAS THERE. I was in there hook, line and sinker. No getting me out of it.

Failed BBQ. A book that ultimately disappointed you.

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase. Now it didn’t disappoint me as such… but I was expecting more? I don’t know, maybe I’m just spoiled because I read SO MUCH amazing kids literature that I have SKY HIGH expectations, and this just didn’t quite live up to my expectations ha! I was glad to have read it so I can say I have now, but yeah, it didn’t blow me away.

It’s raining. Of course. A book to curl up with when it’s raining outside.

Any book? Like, you gimme a rainy day and a book and I’ll be over the moon. However, from my TBR which book am I most excited to get into? Return to Roar. I loved the first one and I’m VERY MUCH looking forward to getting into the second one!

Let’s just eat the chocolate. A book that’s super sweet.

Nick and Charlie (and the Heartstopper books) by Alice Oseman. I dare you to read these and NOT have your heart filled with joy!

I’m not going to tag anyone, but if you fancy doing this, go for it!

Have a gorgeous bank holiday everyone! Let me know your thoughts and what you’re up to in the comments!
