Mini reviews: the YA ones!

Good morning

Just like my graphic novel post yesterday, I am finally catching up on some young adult (YA) books that I’ve read this year… and you’re in for a treat with this trio! Check out my reviews below!

When teen reality star Anton Frazer unveils his latest stunt – a live-streamed, citywide game of Tag in which the prize is to be one of his live-in acolytes – his fans go wild. The whole world is watching. The contestants are kitted out with body cams, GPS trackers and pressure sensors that, if activated by a competitor, will send them out of the running. They venture into night-time London to hunt each other down. Four contestants in particular have alternative motives for being there, secret reasons to want to win despite the risk: money, revenge, obsession, and fame. And one of them will stop at nothing to be the victor at the end of this adrenaline-and-fear fuelled night…

I’ve read the rest of Kathryn’s books and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them – so I was very much looking forward to reading this. I actually bought this for my fiancee (but of course I read this first). This creeped me out suitably. I didn’t see the plotter being who it was, but it made perfect sense the whole time – like OBVIOUSLY. I liked the whole mass game of tag and the interesting spin of the murder mystery too. Don’t recommend reading this at night ha!

Ash Yang is the youngest ever Guardian of the Infinity Files, responsible for the universe’s most powerful and dangerous artefacts. And whether her planet-hopping missions take her to crumbling space ports, volcanic disasters or cloud cities, her new team – loyal Ezra, tech-genius Amara and daring Trik – have got her back. But when a ruthless enemy tracks them across the galaxies, Ash must protect not just her team and their home, but the whole universe.

Being back with Ash and her crew was brilliant – I enjoyed the first one LOADS so I was very much looking forward to diving back into this world of space and guardians! While I definitely don’t have space legs, I love jumping to different planets, learning about them and discovering more about the library! Old faces return, new faces join and we see more of the world that Ash is entrusted to look after. This is a brilliant series so far and I would love to see a third book…

The students at Morton Academy are high-achievers, selected based on academic excellence. So when a series of murders target the school’s brightest and best, the pressure is on. Someone is determined to stop at nothing to clear their path to the top. But who is it? And can they be stopped?

Cynthia is another author whose other book I THOROUGHLY enjoyed, so I was VERY EXCITED to read this – so much about this appeals to me… and well, this was BRILLIANT. The bloody ending had me SHOOKETH and swearing at the author. Boarding school for the elite, murders and secret societies? This is bloody magnificent. A very slow burning brilliance taht will have you turning every page as it comes gagging to know what is coming next! I loved trying to guess what’s going on. So much intrigue and mystery. You need to read this!

Thank you so much for stopping by! A massive thanks to Scholastic and Usborne for sending me review copies of these books… I thoroughly loved them and my fiancée now ahs them on her TBR.

Have you read any of these?
Do you like the sound of these?

I’d love to talk books with you!
