What I’ve been watching #3

What started as a one off post has definitely turned into a series on my blog.

I posted one of these posts a few weeks ago and was surprised by how popular it was! Who knew you guys would be so invested in the films that I’d been watching? Luckily, my girlfriend, the film-lover in my life, and I go to the cinema all the time (so prepare yourself for one of these more and more often ha).

A Journal for Jordan

I really enjoyed this and was surprised by how much I did enjoy it. It sounded like the thing that I was going to love – my girlfriend even commented that she knew I was going to love it cause it was “well sentimental” (she knows me well)… and let me tell you, it proper was. The ending was incredibly sad. Despite the fact I knew what was coming, it still made me cry lots. It was hard watching and not to see some parallels between them and my life as it currently is… in the best way possible. I loved watching their relationship grow and develop throughout the film. Some brilliant songs on in the background too!

Sing 2

I adored the first film and when I found out there was going to be a second, I made my girlfriend come along with me to watch it and it made me smile from ear to ear. Honestly, what a sheer joy! I just adored this. You can’t go wrong with animation, songs and lots of laughter in my eyes. I’d love to see these characters just take on everything. Johnny is definitely my absolute fave. This is absolutely something people should watch when they’re in need of a smile! Even more so if you watched and loved the first one.

Nightmare Alley

This was definitely a girlfriend film, but I actually was looking forward to seeing it. As we watched, all I could think was that it was a lot more dark and grim than I expected, but I really enjoyed it (in that dark and grim way one enjoys films). I think Bradley Cooper played an incredible role in this – he was unrecognisable at times. There’s a full circle moment in this that I didn’t see coming that just made me so appreciative of clever story crafting. This was also beautifully shot. It’s not a film for everyone, but film lovers will really enjoy this!

Obviously these have all been and gone from the cinema by now, ha.

Have you seen any of these?
Are you a big film buff?

Let me know in the comments your thoughts!

I haven’t seen Sing 2 yet, but it’s definitely on my list. I introduced my girlfriend to the first one the other month and she loved it so I’m sure we’ll see the second one at some point!
