Books on my Summer TBR: red, pink and purple

Yesterday, I shared some of the books on my Summer TBR, and today, I’m back with some more books I’m HOPING to get through. I love the Summer holidays because it’s a time I can just read and read. It’s my way to decompress and just get lost for a little while.

If you’d like to see the books I shared yesterday, check out this post here: Books on my Summer TBR orange, blue and green

Vox by Christina Dalcher

Now the new government is in power, everything has changed. But only if you’re a woman. Almost overnight, bank accounts are frozen, passports are taken away and seventy million women lose their jobs. Even more terrifyingly, young girls are no longer taught to read or write. For herself, her daughter, and for every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice. This is only the beginning…

The Night My Dream Came Alive by Juliette Forrest

Every night Ollo goes to sleep willing something wonderful to happen, like flying out of the window and soaring over town, or galloping through a field of flowers on a unicorn. But nothing ever does: she can’t dream. All the other kids at school have dreams. And they’re not just ordinary dreams; they’re enhanced, fantastical ones with a guaranteed nightmare-free adventure every single night. That’s because there’s a special place in town called the Dream Store, which sells every fun dream imaginable to those who can afford it, in the form of DreamDrops. When Ollo finally tries a DreamDrop, will she have the adventure of her life, or will things take a nightmarish turn…?

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

Caught between the Jamaican British family who don’t seem to understand her, a job that’s not all it promised and a man she just can’t get over, Queenie’s life seems to be steadily spiralling out of control. Desperately trying to navigate her way through a hot mess of shifting cultures and toxic relationships and emerge with a shred of dignity, her missteps and misadventures will provoke howls of laughter and tears of pity – frequently on the same page.

Know My Place by Eve Ainsworth

Although initially reluctant to trust them, she eventually starts to let down her guard. Lightning Falls by Amy Wilson

Valerie has been living at Lightning Falls nearly all her life. She’s perfectly happy helping Meg and the rest of the family to haunt the guests who come to stay there at the crumbling Ghost House. One night, she sees a strange boy, Joe, up on the viaduct. There she discovers that beneath the river is a bridge – one that will take her to the world of Orbis, which Joe claims is her real home. A world that is under threat. Plunged into a dangerous adventure, as the link between the two worlds begins to crumble, Valerie is forced to confront the truth about herself…

Inkdeath (to be honest I need to read ALL of this series!!)

Ned’s Circus of Marvels by Justin Fisher

Ned Waddlesworth has always considered his world to be exceptionally ordinary. Until the day he discovers it ISN’T. AT ALL. Because on Ned’s thirteenth birthday he discovers that everything magical he’s ever read about or imagined is REAL. And without him, the world will soon be engulfed in monstrous beasts and beings. So with the help of a robot mouse, a girl witch and a flying circus unlike any other, it’s up to Ned to swoop in and save the day!

Obviously this isn’t ALL of the books on my TBR, nor will I necessarily get through all of these (because I am the moodest of mood readers!!)
