S4S – Fave LGBT+ chars

Good morning friends!

How are you all today? There’s a lot going on in the world at the minute, but writing this #SixforSunday post filled me with a lot of joy, so I hope that reading it/writing your own post brings you some joy too!

This month at #SixforSunday, we are celebrating all things Pride because as we all know June is Pride month so why shouldn’t we be loud, proud and encourage people to read about these characters and their stories?

Fave LGBT+ characters

This week’s prompt I found REALLY hard because I had 3 to start with, then I had 700 haha! I did manage to whittle it down in the end to just 6… but ask me again in a week’s time and I’ll say a whole different bunch of babes! This week, we’re talking

LGBT chars 2020

  • Jack – Jack of Hearts and Other Parts by L.C.Rosen
I remember ABSOLUTELY loving this book and mainly because he is HILARIOUS and wonderful. I implore you all to read this book (please)
  • Caro Kerber-Murphy – The Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven
I loved that she’s just unashamedly herself. A very flawed version of who she is, but she goes on a journey of discovery and who doesn’t love that?
  • Noah Grimes – Noah Can’t Even/Noah Could Never by Simon James Green
Here, this poor boy goes through SO MUCH (like hilariously, not tragically) and he made me laugh so much. Poor, poor Noah.
  • Jonathon – The Strangeworlds Travel Agency by L.D.Lapinski (you’re gonna keep seeing this book and I’m NOT EVEN SORRY)
He’s such a babe. He just doesn’t stop trying and he loves his job. I mean it helps that he’s magical too. I just think everyone could do with a Jonathon in their life to be honest (I know I’d love a Jonathon).
  • Wylan Van Eck – Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
I am such a sucker for a good hearted character and I got it in Wylan. I loved that there is definitely a bit of darkness to him too…
  • Rick – Rick by Alex Gino
It’s so lovely for me to be able to talk about MG characters in these posts. I think Rick is a bloody brave kid who is learning about himself and I think kids need to read these kinds of characters.

I’d also like to take this time to say: Alice Oseman, you make it impossible to choose between your characters. My list was literally just Alice Oseman characters at one point… but she writes characters so wonderfully that if you want somewhere to start, give Oseman a start!

I’d love to know which books are on your list! Share your lists with me using the hashtag #SixforSunday and I will check them out!

DON’T FORGET AT 6PM I’LL BE HOSTING A TWITTER CHAT ON THE #SIXFORSUNDAY HASHTAG TALKING ALL ABOUT BOOKS!

See you next week!
