FILM FRIDAY: 2025 round up

Good morning!

Now, Film Friday was something I started way back on my blog when my wife and I first got together as I started watching A LOT MORE films, but now that I am probably a bonafide cinephile, I think it’s fair that Film Friday gets a full place on my blog!

Today, I thought I’d share my stats from my movie viewing (just as I did with my books). Please do not worry: films do not take away from my reading!

For those interested: the website I use to log my film viewing is called Letterboxd. It’s amazing if you’re interested in logging your film viewing… I LOVE a statistic and my wife and I often compare stats (she’s WAY more of a cinephile than me though, so her stats are MUCH more impressive, ha).

Let’s start off with the basic stats: I LOVE Laurence Fishburne so I’m over the moon that he’s my most watched actor and Wes Craven does not surprise me as most watched director (just as my wife about her Scream obsession, ha). I’m chuffed that I watched 436 films – most of them new to me; some of them rewatches!

First watch/last watch: We have a tradition in this household that The Greatest Showman is always our first watch of the year. It started when we first got together and we’ve stuck by it pretty much every year. I love that film. Terror Train is a film from the 80s with Jamie Lee Curtis in (my wife loves her!).

Diary milestones: Now, these ALL looked different until I forgot to log something which then offset everything… but never mind! I love that I can see what I’ve been watching in milestones over the year. Some of these are very Steph films (Wicked, Hercules, Tangled) and some of them are very Rach films (Spree, Kill Bill, Texas Chainsaw).

Highly rated films/most watched week: These were 3 of my fave films of 2025 no lies. Definitely recommend them if you have time. My most watched week doesn’t surprise me – it was half term and my wife’s birthday week, so we will have watched a lot of films! I imagine those spikes are all half term/Summer ha.

Most watched day: No real surprises here either! Tuesday is staff meeting night in my school AND we watch WWE Raw on a Tuesday night! The massive difference between Sunday and the rest of the days is surprising though if I’m honest!

Letterboxd lets you find WAY more stats than just these (for anyone who loves a stat like me).

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

See you soon for more filmish fun!

I’d love to know if you watched any films in 2025 – what were your faves? What would you recommend? Which actors do you think would be on your most watched list?
