FREE RESOURCE: Digital library!

Morning everyone!

As part of World Book Day celebrations, I have created some “digital library” resources that a few people expressed an interest in having!

A massive massive thank you to Miss S Says on Instagram for the inspiration and the template (which you can find here if you want to have a go at doing your own version of this!). I saw this on her Instagram and I was like ‘oh my gosh, I need to have a go at this!’ (so really, this is all down to her!)

There are 4 different versions:

  • Whole school digital library – this has links from picture books to middle grade books suitable for Year 5/6.
  • Picture book digital library – this has links for all sorts of picture books;
  • Younger MG digital library – this has links for the younger readers of chapter books, so probably Year 3-4
  • Older MG digital library – this has links for more Year 5/6 books
  • KS3+ digital library – books that are suitable for Year 6 and older children (including young adult books)

As always, I’m not the law on suitability of books, I just know my kids. Some of the books could probably go in multiple, but I’ve just made a judgement call.

The way these SHOULD work is that each picture is hyperlinked to a video on Youtube (another massive thank you to publihers/book shops/book charities for all of your incredible work over the past forever for providing these resources for us to use – they are invaluable!). All you need to do is download the PDFs, upload them to whatever online platform you are using et voila! Children should click on the book cover they want to hear an extract/reading of and it should take them to the correct Youtube video.

I have checked the links myself and they all work, but if for whatever reason they don’t, please be kind when you’re letting me know. This has been an awful lot of work and I’m more than happy to fix things, but I’d just appreciate any kind of hiccups/improvements suggested in a kind manner.

As always, I’d love to know if this is any use to you! Feel free to download, share with parents, put on your websites or your online learning platforms! But please don’t put this on any websites claiming them as your own – a little credit (either of my blog, my twitter @eenalol or my instagram @thisgeordieteaches) goes a long long way! Please spread the love and share this as far and as wide as you wish!

    This is a fab resource. Thank you so much for sharing… I am going to be sharing with my class on our GC page. I am sure the children will absolutely enjoy listening to or watching all the story links you have added.

    This is so great – is there a way we can credit you properly? I’m sending it out to our kids, but don’t want to be dishonest and for them to think it’s me!
